How to Wash Medical Scrubs So the Colour Doesn't Fade
Scrubs get washed far more often than normal clothes, sometimes after every single shift. The right washing habits keep the colour rich, the fabric soft and your uniform looking professional for much longer.

1. Wash inside out
Turn tops and trousers inside out before washing. The outside surface rubs less against the drum and other clothes, which is the main cause of dull, faded patches.
2. Use cold or warm water, not hot
Very hot water opens the fibres and lets dye escape. For everyday washing, cold or warm water with a good detergent cleans well and protects colour.
3. Wash dark colours separately
Keep Navy Blue, Black, Mehroon and Royal Blue together, and light colours like Sky Blue and Gray together. Never wash new dark scrubs with white coats.
4. Skip the bleach
Bleach strips colour from dyed fabric. For stains, pre-treat the spot with a little liquid detergent for 10 minutes before washing.
5. Dry in the shade
Strong Pakistani sunlight fades colours quickly. Hang scrubs inside out in the shade, or tumble dry on low heat.
6. Iron inside out on medium heat
This keeps the outside surface from getting a shiny look and protects the colour.
